The CAMELTA Conference

On the 25th May 2022, Globe hosted the ‘CAMELTA Research Group and Department of English ENS Yaounde joint conference’. This event was hosted by Erik Ekembe, the Researching in the English Classroom PLC mentor, which consisted of presenters from Mexico, Congo, Sierra Leone, India and more. It was Co-chaired by Catherine Motto, CAMELTA National President, and Prof Daniel Nkemleke, of the Higher Teacher Training College Yaounde. The Co-plenary speakers were Brindy Belinga and Ita Ndifon.

Here’s a little bit about what the conference was about:

  • “The conference intends to open further spaces for dialogues on ways of bridging the gap between teacher preparation, practice, and professional development in the global South.
  • The hope is to come out with projects that use classroom evidence to inform, pre-service training, practice, and professional development in ELT in various contexts on a sustainable basis
  • This conference will set another agenda for classroom research”
