I am a Senior Lecturer in the Centre for Language and Linguistics at Canterbury Christ Church University, where I convene modules and teach on the BA in English Language, the MA in TESOL as well as short courses for pre- and in-service English language teachers. I have taught, trained language teachers and carried out consultancies in several countries including Argentina, Hong Kong, Italy, India, Bangladesh, China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Bahrain, Sweden and Switzerland. My main areas of interest are in the use of drama and theatre in language teaching and performance-related skills for effective and affective teaching to maximise socio-psychological harmony and achievement in the classroom. I have published widely in these and other areas and are often invited to speak at conferences around the world on my areas of expertise. My books Teaching English with Drama (2005) and Putting the Human Centre Stage – practical theatre techniques to develop teacher presence, rapport and a positive classroom community (2019) were both published by Pavilion.
