“It is a great honour to have been invited back for the second year as a mentor for the EVE-Africa ELTA Women’s Leadership Programme”
Her mentee is Akintola Iyabo Adebimpe, a teacher trainer form Nigeria. Iyabo graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Kaduna, Nigeria , in 1998 with a BA in English Language Art and Education, and then moved to the University of Ibadan for a post graduate course in Education. She started her teaching career in 1999 and currently teaches at Baptist Girls’ College Idi Aba, Abeokuta Ogun State Nigeria. Iyabo is also the incumbent state coordinator of English Language Teachers Association of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter (ELTAN).
Iyabo is a huge fan of poetry and literature – a passion which I share – and we are working together on to encourage teachers to better teach poetry and drama in the classroom. She has introduced me to a wonderful Nigerian poet – Niyi Osundare – who I would encourage you all to seek out.
I very much look forward to seeing Iyabo present on this subject at the programme’s final webinar in February 2022 – everyone is invited to this event, details to follow.
