Jeremy Harmer
did his initial training (and his first teaching job) at International House, before working for the Instituto Anglo Mexicano de Cultura in Mexico City, Ciudad Satellite, and later – after getting an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Reading, UK – in Guadalajara where he was the branch director. On returning to the UK, Jeremy taught at the Bell School before dedicating his time to writing course materials and methodology titles. He became a frequent speaker and workshop leader around the world – something he still undertakes with enthusiasm. He is a course designer and tutor for the online MATESOL at the New School, New York, and a frequent speaker and tutor at NILE (The Norwich Institute of Language Education). Among Jeremy’s books are The Practice of English Language Teaching, How to Teach English and Essential Teacher Knowledge (published by Pearson), Trumpet Voluntary and Solo Saxophone (published by Cambridge University Press) and the course Jetstream (published by Helbling) where he is one of the writing team. Away from the world of language teaching Jeremy is a practising musician, singer-songwriter, and performer of the spoken word. jeremyharmer.wordpress.com
