Africa ELTA 5th Annual Conference Report - Aug 2021.
Sarah Mount and Alan Pulverness were delighted to attend Africa ELTA’S 5th annual conference in the virtual world last weekend.
An innovative approach was taken in that there were two strands to the conference – one on zoom and one on WhatsApp. There were 71 presenters on zoom and 9 on WhatsApp. In addition, there were a number of social events on the WhatsApp platform including African storytelling, African music and a most memorable quiz!
At various times throughout the conference, up to 300 delegates represented represented some 55 African countries which is an amazing achievement for Africa ELTA.
The theme of the conference was ‘Communities of Practice’ and we were fortunate enough to be able to present Globe to the delegates at the conference. Africa ELTA now has it’s own dedicated PLC within Globe and delegates from the conference are looking forward to meeting here and facilitating further discussions from issues arising out of the conference. Watch this space for news of future projects from sub-saharan Africa.
